Robert Barton Price, M.D. Founder
 

Dr. Price received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Biology from the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of North Carolina State University at Raleigh. 

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the School of Medicine at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.


Following Licensure to practice Medicine and Surgery in North Carolina he traveled to Atlanta to complete his internship and residency in Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine. After receiving his board certification from the American Board of Radiology, He received additional training as a fellow in Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology at the same institution. 


Subsequent to his fellowship training Dr. Price served on the Faculty of the Emory University School of Medicine as Instructor and then as Assistant Professor of Radiology. In the latter capacity Dr Price served as Co-Director of Interventional Radiology at Grady Memorial Hospital (Atlanta’s largest Hospital and Trauma Center) and attending physician at Emory University Hospital. He then served as a member of the Emory Clinic as Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the then Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University now Emory Midtown Hospital. After leaving the Emory Clinic Dr. Price entered an established multi member private practice (DIS) at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta now Atlanta Medical Center and other institutions affiliated with that practice. 


After 28 years at DIS, Dr Price left that practice to found Sterling Medical Imaging Specialists PC .

 

Dr Price has served on multiple corporate and medical boards, has served as a Department Vice -Chairman and as Chairman, has presented numerous times at National and International meetings, contributed chapters to several medical texts and published multiple articles in his field. 

Dr Price lives in Marietta with his wife of many years and has two extraordinary adult children. He enjoys family gatherings, good friends, his work and his many pets currently including three dogs , a cat and a horse all but one rescued. 

Sterling Medical imaging Specialists is a independent, private outpatient Radiology practice based in metropolitan Atlanta. We are affiliated with American Health Imaging/US Radiology, the largest private outpatient Radiology company in Georgia. 

 

Sterling provides on site and teleradiology services for American health Imaging and teleradiology services for independent clinical practices. Therapeutic and diagnostic spine and joint injections including myelograms, epidurals and arthrograms are provided by Sterling at select centers in Decatur and Marietta. When requested and appropriate Sterling will provide second opinions and legal case reviews as well. 

 

All of Sterlings professional staff are board certified and fellowship trained with decades of clinical experience. Sterling specializes in Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology and in Head and Neck and Body Imaging. Our knowledge and experience with MRI, CT and Ultrasound in these areas is exhaustive. 

 

Our size at Sterling allows us to form close relations with our clients making us readily available for consultation and accessible for case review. Our reporting is consistent, organized and complete but tailored to the individual specialists needs. 

 

Finally we at Sterling understand the profound nature of the work we do and it’s potential impact on the lives and health of the patients we serve. As a consequence , we spare no time nor effort in doing the very best we can to honor that responsibility.

What to expect as a referring physician:

1. You can expect your patients to receive prompt appointments at convenient hours. Our facilities have extended weekday and weekend hours. Emergency or urgent cases are prioritized. 

​2. Patient studies are reported by board certified, specialty trained radiologists with decades of experience in these modalities.

3. Reporting is prompt. If urgent, reporting is same day and ASAP. Otherwise, reports are available within one to two business days from the time of appointment. 

4. Your patients can expect to be treated with kindness and dignity by our professional staff. They can expect their studies to be performed promptly, safely and comfortably. Completely open MRI systems are available for the severely claustrophobic patient at select centers. 

5. We understand that certain specialties have particular interest in specific information. We can modify our reporting to include those specific interests. Simply email us with your requests and they will be included in your report.

What to expect as a patient:

1. You can expect to be seen on time, treated warmly and professionally and have your examination performed and reported to your referring physician promptly. 

2. Most examinations require no special preparation. 

3. You will receive a screening call from our facility prior to your study to be sure nothing is present to prevent your examination from being performed safely. Allergies, implanted equipment, devices, etc. are among the items we will screen for. 

 

4. A few procedures require you to have a driver and you will be so informed. The primary one is a myelogram.

 

5. Before you leave you should be given a DVD with the images of your exam(s) for your records and for your physician. Be sure to ask for it before you go.

 

6. You can call our facility at any time with questions or concerns.
